WAC Lighting's Hybrid OLED/LED Luminaire Receives 2012 Top Product Award

Garden City, New York---WAC Lighting President Shelley Wald has announced the company’s Hybrid OLED/LED Luminaire has received one of Building Operating Management Magazine’s Top Products Awards.

The Building Operating Management Top Products award-winners were selected by an e-mail ballot to the facilities professionals who receive the print and online editions of the magazine, attend in-person and online events, and subscribe to the magazine’s e-newsletters. A total of 557 products appeared in the magazine or online on FacilitiesNet.com between Oct. 1, 2010 and Sept. 30, 2011. Readers were asked to select their choices for Top Products that met the criteria of innovation and usefulness to facility managers. Based on reader votes, 73 products were selected as Top Products.

WAC’s Hybrid is an exceptionally unique and innovative luminaire that merges LED and OLED technology to be used in their most salient functions.  Six luminaire panels, each offering an ultra-slim profile of 4.5mm (?)(check with Sean), feature color changing RGB and white Organic LEDs with color temperatures ranging from 2700K to 6500K. Each OLED panel features colors that can be individually customized to the user's preference using a DMX Controller.  The glare-free OLEDs deliver diffused ambient illumination and 300-plus lumens at 12 watts. At 3000K, the OLEDs' CRI (Color Rendering Index) is 80.

This luminaire features the world's most revolutionary nanotechnology available today. The six OLED panels create a “wow factor” through color-changing RGBs while still offering a glare-free, beautifully diffused ambient illumination in the color palette of your choice.

The Hybrid is called upon to perform the task lighting with a 12-watt LED multi-chip downlight, delivering 557 lumens of directional light onto the surface below.  LEDs are also used as a unique decorative element for accent lighting.  The luminaire features eight brilliant faceted crystal brackets illuminated by energy efficient LEDs, creating an optically pure prismatic brilliance and added elegance to this exceptional design.

The Hybrid is inherently sustainable, designed around energy efficiency and environmentally friendly technology and materials. Each luminaire is individually crafted within WAC Lighting's clean manufacturing campus featuring zero landfill status and in-house UL Labs. The OLEDs achieve energy efficiency without the use of heavy metals or other rare-earth materials commonly used in other energy-efficient sources.
